And the draw is packed - Top 10 star Kerber is joined by another Top 20 star, Eugenie Bouchard.
But it was two other Germans who were on hand for the draw - Mona Barthel and Anna-Lena Friedsam.
Barthel went as high as No.23 in the world in 2013, while Friedsam is just coming out of the juniors.
Meanwhile, the ballkids at the NÜRNBERGER VERSICHERUNGSCUP awaited an aforementioned Canadian...
Bouchard had a breakthrough 2013 and has risen to even higher heights in 2014 - the world's Top 20.
The Canadian, who reached the Australian Open semifinals this year, had a hit with the ballkids.
Afterwards she posed for photos and signed autographs for the ballkids, who she'll be seeing all week.
Bouchard is the No.2 seed in the draw and opens up against the always-tough Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
