Elena Vesnina, Ekaterina Makarova and plenty of WTA stars took a break from their St Petersburg Ladies Trophy preparations to stop at the Four Seasons for the Players’ Gala Dinner.
Daria Kasatkina, one of Russia’s generation next, was also in attendance.
Venus Williams arrived fresh off her flight from Melbourne, where she reached the Australian Open final.
She stopped for a chat with general director Alexander Medvedev.
The Darias found each other on the seating chart…
…while Roberta Vinci, the defending champion, found herself on the program.
Russian hospitality means all the players got gifts, like Vesnina who received a rose!
Venus got a rose too!
Kasatkina and Belinda Bencic donned Russian folk-style shawls during the party.
Russia’s No.1 player Svetlana Kuznetsova had a few words for the crowd.
The St. Petersburg-born Kuznetsova is playing in her hometown for the first time.
Last year St Petersburg was known for having one of the most memorable player parties on the tour, and they continued the trend into their second year with another spectacular show.
There was a hair and fashion show by Dmitry Vinokurov, a trend-setter designer from Wella Company.
There were some street style looks…
and some very avant guarde styles!
Kristina Mladenovic made sure to take it all in…
… as well as Donna Vekic and Martina Hingis.
Hingis later took to the stage herself!
Vesnina looked very impressed by the dance number…
…as did Venus!
The night ended with some music by the Smirnov Brothers, a duo of famous Russian DJs, who were joined onstage by the trio Performance Show Fashion Dolls.
All the players – including Andrea Petkovic – looked really into it!
Pretty soon everyone joined in to dance the night away.
Gavrilova lead the charge to the DJ booth…
… and was soon joined by Mladenovic and Kasatkina.
Looks like a great time was had by all!
