Coached by Il-Soon Kim ... Began playing tennis on her own at age 10 at school ... Prefers hard courts; best shot is forehand ... Father, Moo-Woong Cho, is a public servant; mother is Jeom-Rye Han; has an older brother, Woo-Chan Cho ... Graduated from high school in February 1998 ... Underwent surgery in late 2003 to correct lifelong jaw misalignment, which had caused neck, shoulder and back problems, taking her off the Tour for more than four months ... Most memorable experience was playing against Martina Hingis in doubles at Tokyo [Pan Pacific] ... Self-described as too quiet ... JULY - Played first event in over a year at ITF/Miyazaki-JPN, reaching doubles QF (w/Yoo).
1996 - Reached final at first ITF Circuit event of career (ITF/Bandung-INA); played four other ITF Circuit events and contested Tour qualifying at Pattaya City.

1997 - Reached two singles finals, winning ITF/Bandung-INA; won first doubles title at ITF/Seoul 1-KOR (w/Kim); qualified for Pattaya City.

1998 - Qualified for Tokyo [Pan Pacific]; first Grand Slam qualifying at US Open.

1999 - Qualified once in six Tour attempts, at Tokyo [Japan Open].

2000 - Qualified for Pattaya City, reaching 2r.

2001 - Winner of ITF/Midland-USA and runner-up at two other ITF events; qualified for Stanford, US Open (Grand Slam debut), Tokyo [Japan Open] and Shanghai, where she reached first Tour QF.

2002 - First Top 100 finish in season highlighted by runner-up showing at Pattaya City (l. to Widjaja); also won ITF/Oyster Bay, NY-USA and ITF/Nuriootpa-AUS (d. Molik 76 third set in final); 2r at Gold Coast (as qualifier) and US Open, where she won first Grand Slam matches to reach 3r (l. to No.5 Seles in 3s after trailing 61 51); 2r at Memphis, Birmingham and Shanghai; broke into Top 100 on February 11 at No.99.

2003 - Second Tour singles final at Auckland, holding 2 mp vs. Daniilidou (l. 76 third set); broke into Top 50 on March 31 at No.50 and reached career-high No.45 on July 14; also Memphis SF (l. to Raymond in 3s); first Tour doubles final at Stanford (w/Schiavone); troubled by lower back injury which forced withdrawal from Hyderabad and Amelia Island; withdrew from Tokyo [Japan Open] while undergoing jaw surgery.

2004 - Reached QF at Bali (as No.313, d. No.40 Vento-Kabchi and No.41 Brandi en route; l. to WeingSrtner in 3s), 2r at Olympics (l. to Schiavone 26 76(0) 64); won first Tour title in doubles at Seoul (w/Jeon); on ITF Circuit, reached two singles finals and won two doubles titles; withdrew from Hyderabad w/back sprain.

2005 - Best season to date, reaching QF at Memphis (l. to eventual runner-up Shaughnessy) and Cincinnati (l. to Hantuchova in 3s); equal-best career Grand Slam showing at US Open, reaching 3r (d. No.29 seed Dulko en route; l. to No.7 seed Henin-Hardenne); 2r three times, incl. Wimbledon (l. to Srebotnik); 1r at Roland Garros (l. to Schnyder) and failed to qualify at Australian Open; won fifth career ITF Circuit singles title at $50K ITF/Orange, CA-USA (d. top seed Randriantefy in SF, Schruff in final; afterwards on March 21, moved from No.113 to No.90, first time in Top 100 since January 2004); withdrew from Auckland w/back injury.

2006 - Strong start to year, highlighted by third career Tour singles final at Canberra (d. No.8 seed Arvidsson and No.6 seed Castano en route, falling to top seed Medina Garrigues in 3s; now 0-3 in Tour singles finals) and 2r at Auckland (d. Peer; l. to Zvonareva in 3s); then began struggling w/low back injury and underwent surgery on it in March, subsequently withdrawing from Pattaya City, Bangalore, Indian Wells and Miami, then didn't play entire rest of season.
