Maleeva (trailed 63 52) and No. 6 seed Farina Elia (trailed 60 31) before falling to No. 2 seed Van Roost in 3s after leading 75 30; in only second ITF Circuit main draw of her career, won ITF/San Severo-ITA; named ITF GirlsÆ Singles World Champion, winning US Open junior title; first season-ending ranking of No. 163
2000 - Qualified for Australian Open, Estoril, Budapest (reaching 2r), Rome, Roland Garros and Wimbledon; reached 3r at Birmingham (d. No. 20 Dechy in 2r); held 4 mp vs. world No. 16 Capriati in Zurich 1r before falling
2001 - First Top 100 finish at No. 34 in breakthrough season; qualified for six consecutive tournaments in first quarter of season - Gold Coast, Australian Open, Doha (saving 6 mp in 2r to d. 2002 - At Australian Open, after gaining a place in seedings when S. Williams pulled out with a turned ankle, sprained her own left ankle in 1r vs. C. Martinez and forced to retire; withdrew from all tournaments February-July and returned in Los Angeles (l. 2r to S. Williams); reached first QF of year at Bali but retired in QF to Kuznetsova due to left knee sprain; as WC at Pattaya City, reached second career SF; ranking improved from No. 222 to finish the season at No. 175

2004 - Reached SF at s'Hertogenbosch as world No.44 (l. to eventual champion No.26 Pierce), and 3r at Australian Open as No.23 seed (l. to No.354 WC Golovin); l. in 2r three times and in 1r eight times (incl. at Wimbledon); in doubles, reached SF at Doha (w/Myskina) and Amelia Island (w/Zvonareva); withdrew from Rome, Strasbourg and Roland Garros due to illness, and from Vancouver, Cincinnati and US Open due to left wrist sprain.
2005 - Returned to action for first time in four months at Auckland, defeating Kapros in 1r before falling to eventual winner Srebotnik in next round; reached Auckland doubles SF (w/Husarova); fell in final round qualifying at Australian Open.
