2005 - Stellar start to season marred by illness; went 14-3 to start, winning fifth WTA title at Sydney (d. Stosur in first all-Australian WTA final since 1992 Brisbane) and reaching first Grand Slam QF at Australian Open (l. to Davenport; was first Australian-born woman to reach QF there since Minter in 1988); followed with SF at Antwerp (l. to Mauresmo) and runner-up finish at Doha (l. to Sharapova in final); after pre-QF losses at Dubai, Miami and Amelia Island, withdrew from rest of clay court season (Charleston, Berlin, Rome, Roland Garros) w/inner ear infection; attempted comeback at Birmingham but lost opener then withdrew from rest of grass court season (Eastbourne, Wimbledon) and early summer hardcourt season (Stanford, Toronto); after falling 1r in at New Haven and US Open, reached 2r at Bali but fell 1r four more times (Beijing, Filderstadt, Moscow, Zürich); withdrew from Hasselt and Philadelphia and announced extended break; having cracked Top 10 on January 31 (after Australian Open; rose from No.12 to No.10 - first Australian woman in Top 10 since Turnbull in 1985) and spending 22 weeks inside (incl. 12 weeks at career-high No.8), finished year No.29; won first Grand Slam doubles title at Australian Open (w/Kuznetsova) and two more titles at Doha (w/Schiavone) and Miami (w/Kuznetsova); cracked doubles Top 10 on February 28 (rose from No.11 to No.10) and spent 36 weeks inside (incl. two weeks at career-high No.6).

2006 - Returned to WTA in May having missed over six months (and better part of 12 months) w/inner ear infection; played first event back on ITF Circuit (l. 1r) then played 15 WTA events, reaching QF at Guangzhou and winning matches at three other events, reaching 3r at Roland Garros (as WC), 2r at Wimbledon (as WC) and 2r at Tokyo [Japan Open]; having started 2006 ranked outside Top 500, finished season at No.163.

2007 - Another Top 100 season; QF three times, at Hobart, Guangzhou and Tokyo [Japan Open]; reached 3r twice (incl. Australian Open) and 2r eight times (incl. Wimbledon); fell 1r nine times (incl. other two majors) and in qualifying once; made Top 100 return on January 29 (after Australian Open; rose from No.141 to No.99) and remained inside all season, peaking at No.57; won second Grand Slam doubles title at Roland Garros (w/Santangelo); made doubles Top 10 return on August 20 (spent three weeks inside, all at No.8).

2008 - Reached 2r once (Australian Open); fell 1r six times (incl. Olympics) and in qualifying three times (incl. Roland Garros, Wimbledon); announced retirement on September 4.

2009 - Came out of retirement in August; played first two events in doubles at New Haven and US Open (w/Shaughnessy); won three singles titles and one doubles title on ITF Circuit.
