A past winner of the WTA's Premier Tournament Of The Year, the Kremlin Cup at Olympic Stadium in Moscow is the final Premier stop on the calendar before the WTA Championships.
The tournament started in 1994 and was upgraded to Premier status in 1996, when it became a joint ATP-WTA event. It also switched surfaces from carpet to hardcourts in 2007.
Kremlin Cup champions include Victoria Azarenka, Martina Hingis, Jelena Jankovic, Conchita Martínez, Anastasia Myskina, Jana Novotna, Francesca Schiavone, Caroline Wozniacki, three-time winner Magdalena Maleeva and Mary Pierce, who collected the last of her 18 career titles here in 2005.
