WTA 125K Series
In 2012, the WTA introduced the WTA 125K Series of tournaments to provide an opportunity for new markets to showcase a professional women's tennis product and offer lower-ranked and up-and-coming players additional opportunities to compete and earn prize money and ranking points.
With $115,000 in on-site prize money and 160 ranking points awarded the champion, WTA 125K Series events are a level above top-tier ITF Women's Circuit events ($100,000 prize money and 150 points for the champion).
There are currently seven WTA 125K Series tournaments scheduled for the upcoming 2016 season: San Antonio, Texas, USA (Week of March 14), Bol, Croatia (Week of May 30), Dalian, China (Week of September 5), Hua Hin, Thailand (Week of November 7), Limoges, France (also Week of November 7), Taipei, Chinese Taipei (Week of November 14) and finally Carlsbad, California, USA (Week of November 21).
