It's a daunting statistic - 1 in 11 children across the world, or, to put a number on it, 58,000,000 children, are out of school and not getting the start to life they're entitled to. UNICEF, the FC Barcelona Foundation and Reach Out To Asia have come together to form a partnership, 1 in 11, to harness the power of sport and education to ensure that every child has the opportunities they deserve in life.
1 in 11 is raising money to fund three education pilot projects in three countries with the most marginalized and vulnerable kids - Indonesia, Nepal and Bagladesh. More countries are to follow.
Two of the most recognizable names in sport, our World No.1 Serena Williams and soccer superstar Lionel Messi, have joined the cause, appearing in the above commercial. And in that commercial they both take the #1in11 Keep Ups Challenge, where anyone can play keep up with a ball of any kind, nominate two friends to take the challenge, and, if they want, make a donation to the cause.
