AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Former World No.1 Venus Williams took some time out ahead of her ASB Classic campaign to explore some very unique Maori culture, visiting the Orakei Marae in Auckland - a Marae is a sacred place that serves religious and social purposes in Maori societies.

Check out video of Williams' very special visit to the Orakei Marae in Auckland right here:

"It wasn't like something I've ever seen before, and I've been around the world and seen a lot," the seven-time Grand Slam champion said during the visit. "I'm not sure exactly where my roots are, so whenever I'm a part of culture like this, it feels so rich. I would love to know where I'm from."

Global superstars like Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder have also visited Auckland's Orakei Marae.
