GUANGZHOU, China - No.2 seed Zhang Shuai continued her untouchable run of form into the Guangzhou Open semifinals, taking down Kateryna Kozlova 6-1, 6-1.

Zhang, the top seed at Guangzhou after Peng Shuai was stunned in the last round, has dropped just three games in total on her way to the semifinals.

“I played really well today, better than what I’ve expected,” Zhang said afterwards. “I had thought it would’ve been a much tougher match, but I think I was prepared well.
“I’ve had a busy schedule this year but have balanced on court and off court training well.”
Up next for the Chinese player will be Evgeniya Rodina, who defeated Aussie qualifier Lizette Cabrera, 6-1, 7-6(4).

"I feel a strong attachment to Guangzhou because I won my first title here. I think I always play well here."

- Zhang Shuai

The 2013 Guangzhou champion Zhang is hoping her familiarity with the tournament - which historically has always brought out her best tennis - will lead her to another title in her home country.

“I feel a strong attachment to Guangzhou because I won my first title here,” she said. “I think I always play well here. I just hope to keep my good form in the next match.”

Joining Zhang in the Guangzhou Open semifinals are Yanina Wickmayer and Aleksandra Krunic. Wickmayer, who took down Peng in the last round, continued into the semifinals after knocking out another seed, defeating No.6 Alize Cornet 6-1, 7-6(5). Krunic eased past Rebecca Peterson 6-1, 6-1.
