SINGAPORE - Elina Svitolina wore a big smile as she sat slouched on the couch in the player lounge a few hours after capping off the biggest week of her career by winning the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. As she sat down for her final media interview of a whirlwind night, she pulled over a second chair so she could - literally - kick up her feet. Ebullient, thoughtful, and defiant, Svitolina reflected on her statement week in Singapore on the WTA Insider Podcast.

"Coming to his week I had zero expectations," Svitolina said on the WTA Insider Podcast.  "I think I was the underdog and no one really expecting anything from me. That really motivated me. I was extremely tough on court."

"I wouldn't say I had nothing to lose, it was more about a winning mentality. That really helped me. I was just trying to work really hard for every point. I can't say I was playing my best tennis, but I was always ready to work really hard. I was physically ready. I think that's what brought me the win here."

"I definitely proved [something] to myself. I reached my limit and I pushed it much further."

"I definitely proved [something] to myself. I reached my limit and I pushed it much further. I'm really pleased with how I handled the pressure in the semifinals, against Pliskova as well, the matches have been really, really tough. I really had to step up my game and I pushed my limit. That's really important for me, this challenge. It's very important to know this and to work with this."
