With the Fed Cup taking centre stage over the course of the last week, many of the WTA’s top players either represented their countries or took the opportunity for a week off competition.

Consequently, there has been little change towards the summit of the ranking, where Simona Halep continues to dominate.

Below this upper echelon, however, there was some notable movement:

Wang Yafan (+12, No.98 to No.86): The 23-year-old enjoyed a terrific run to the final in Zhengzhou and cemented her place in the Top 100 as a result. It represents a new career best.

Taylor Townsend (+17, No.108 to No.91): The American scored success in an ITF event in Dothan, Alabama to make a strong jump into the Top 100 and is now just short of her career best No.89.

Yanina Wickmayer (+9, No.107 to No.98): Zhengzhou was kind to the Belgian, as she made it to the semi-finals and broke back into the Top 100.

Zheng Saisai (+15, No.139 to No.124): Was unseeded in Zhengzhou but that did not stop her claiming the title in three sets against No.4 seed Wang Xafan.

Mariana Duque-Marino (+13, No.125 to No.112): The 28-year-old was beaten by Taylor Townsend in the Dothan final but has made a healthy jump up the ranking nevertheless.

Tamara Zidansek (+7, No.143 to No.136): The Slovenian picked up the winner’s cheque at an ITF event in Santa Margherita Di Pula, Italy, to move deeper into the Top 150.

Han Xinyun (+23, No.173 to No.150): Although Han was defeated by Saisai Zheng in the semifinals of Zhengzhou, her run, which included a win over Nao Hibino, has lifted her into the Top 150.

Valentyna Ivakhnenko (+14, No.186 to No.172): Victorious on the clay in Tunis a week ago, the Russian 24-year-old continues to make progress up the ladder.

Destanee Aiava (+24, No.212 to No.188): The 17-year-old Australian won her previous event in Osaka and is seeking to break back into the Top 150.

Francesca Di Lorenzo (+37, No.235 to No.198): A run to the semifinals in Dothan ensured that the American is the biggest mover in the Top 200 this week, breaking that barrier for the first time.
