MATCH POINTS

Andrea Petkovic has won two of the previous five encounters with Camila Giorgi - the German winning in Cincinnati in 2015 and Dubai a year later following three losses to the Italian in 2014 (in Dubai, Indian Wells and Linz).

Barbora Strycova's victory in the last 32 at the 2018 Australian Open was her only previous meeting with Bernarda Pera.

Alizé Cornet meets Lin Zhu for the first time on Tuesday, while Katerina Siniakova and Anastasia Potapova also have their debut encounter.

Barbora Strycova is the eldest player in this year's singles draw,  the Czech taking part at the age of 33.

Fifth seed Katerina Siniakova continues her return to singles action after lifting her second doubles title of 2019 at the Rogers Cup last week.
