No.3 seed Alizé Cornet is the only seed left standing in the last eight.
The Frenchwoman has a 1-1 career head-to-head record against Natalia Vikhlyantseva. Both their previous matches have taken place in Moscow and both have gone the full three sets – the loser of the opener coming back to win.
Tamara Korpatsch leads Jil Teichmann 2-1 in their head-to-head, including a victory at the 2017 Swiss Open. All the previous three matches have been quick affairs, with the loser not claiming any more than three games in total.
Teichmann overcame the German when they met in Prague earlier this year, 6-2, 6-1.
This will be the first time that Han Xinyun and Bernarda Pera have faced off. That is also the case with Samantha Stosur and Fiona Ferro.
Stosur has lost her last three matches against French players in straight sets; she had lost her previous 13 against players from the country.
Bernarda Pera has a 7-2 career head-to-head record in her favor against Chinese players.
