Hsieh Su-wei takes a 4-0 head-to-head record into her match with Lara Arruabarrena. The player from Chinese Taipei has never dropped a set against Arruabarrena, including their two matches on clay, in the first round of the 2016 French Open, and later that year in the semifinals of a Challenger event in Marseille.

Hsieh has been enjoying one of the best years of her career in 2019, reaching a ranking of World No.24, just one spot off her career high of No.23 which was attained in 2013. Hsieh posted the best result of her career at a Premier Mandatory event in Miami a few weeks back by reaching the quarterfinals.

This will be the first meeting between Timea Bacsinszky and Ajla Tomljanovic. Both players have reached the final of the Grand Prix De SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem: Bacsinszky is the 2016 champion, while Tomljanovic was the runner-up to Elise Mertens last year.

Johanna Konta and Ana Bogdan will square off for the first time. British No.1 Konta saved three match points in her opening-round win against Wang Yafan on Tuesday.
