This will be the first meeting between Fiona Ferro and Polona Hercog. World No.108 Ferro is projected to re-enter the Top 100 on Monday following this result.
Hercog is aiming to claim her third career WTA singles title. The Slovene won back-to-back titles on the clay courts of Bastad in 2011 and 2012.
Last year's junior Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek is into her first-ever WTA semifinal this week, and could make her Top 100 debut on Monday, pending other results.
This will be the first meeting between Swiatek and Kristyna Pliskova, the left-handed twin sister of World No.4 Karolina Pliskova. Pliskova seeks a second career WTA singles title to add to her trophy from Tashkent in 2016.
