[8] CHAN Hao-Ching (TPE) / Latisha CHAN (TPE) vs [6] Samantha STOSUR (AUS) / ZHANG Shuai (CHN)

This is just the third event Mertens and Sabalenka have played together. They made their debut at the Australian Open this year, losing in the round of 16 to Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, before exacting revenge on the No.1-seeded Czechs to win the BNP Paribas Open title at Indian Wells two weeks ago.

The Indian Wells title was Sabalenka's first-ever WTA doubles title.

This is just the second event wild cards Azarenka and Barty have played together. They knocked off No.1 seeds Krejcikova and Siniakova in the first round of Miami.

Stosur and Zhang won the Australian Open earlier this year, beating the No.1 seeds (Krejcikova and Siniakova) and No.2 seeds (defending champions Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic) en route. That was the third Grand Slam women's doubles title for Stosur, and Zhang's first-ever Grand Slam title of any kind.

The Chan sister act of Latisha and Hao-ching have had an excellent 2019 with a 23-4 win-loss record, including titles in Doha and Hobart and the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. They have reached at least the quarterfinals of all seven tournaments they have played this season to date.
