BRISBANE, Australia - It wasn't a perfect week for Karolina Pliskova, but it certainly ended perfectly. The World No.7 kicked off her 2019 campaign by capturing her second Brisbane International title, coming back from a set and a break down twice during the week to win her twelfth WTA title. Pliskova rallied from being two points away from the loss in Sunday's final to defeat Lesia Tsurenko 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.

"Sometimes you just have to dig deep and to fight for some matches when you just don't feel great," Pliskova said on the WTA Insider Podcast. "For sure didn't feel great in the final. But it's a final so I just put everything that I had left. It was worth it to work for it. I think I played some good matches, some not so good matches this week, but still I made it to the title."

The last time Pliskova won the Brisbane title in 2016, she went on to make the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. Pliskova is keeping her expectations in check, but there's no doubt the Australian summer brings out some of her best tennis:

"I love Melbourne,"Pliskova said. "I think it's my favorite city and my favorite Grand Slam. I look forward to being there, it doesn't matter how I play. I just love this place so much. I'm just going to enjoy for sure. I love all of Australia, so that's why I just feel somehow more happy here. Everyone is so positive, it's tough to be negative."
