BUDAPEST, Hungary - Top seed Timea Babos had to go the distance against Oceane Dodin - but an impressive deciding set took her through 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 to the semifinals of the Hungarian Ladies Open.

"I had to be really strong out there today," said the Hungarian afterwards. "It was important that I served really well in the key moments. The last games were very tough, she was not giving me any free points and I really had to fight while staying aggressive."

Babos now faces a clash with Julia Goerges, who had to fight hard to get past Yanina Wickmayer, but managed it in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5.

"It was a very good match from my side," said the third seed afterwards. "It´s always a tough one against Yanina."

Lucie Safarova had a tough time against qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Budapest - but had enough to make it through, 6-3, 7-5.

"Really happy to get through," she said after the match. "Especially at the beginning of the third set I was trying to stay calm, stay positive, and just keep going and give everything I have left and it turned out very good, so I am really happy with the win."

She will face Carina Witthoeft, who comprehensively beat eighth seed Annika Beck, 6-1, 6-1.

"I am really happy with how I played today," said Witthoeft afterwards. "I hadn´t played against Annika for a very long time but we do practice quite often. It was tougher that what the score shows. I'm really happy to be through to the semifinals."
