Is there any reason why you can’t wear your favorite tennis shoes off the court? Not if they are lightweight, comfortable and awesome! And that is exactly the balance adidas has tried to deliver with its groundbreaking Defiant Bounce, a new range available exclusively in the United States from Tennis Warehouse (and non-exclusively in Europe).
Available in individual, striking colors for men and women, the Defiant Bounce is a performance tennis shoe that is meant for the court but stylish and comfortable enough to wear off the court.
Developing the concept was an exciting project, says Stefan Mülhleisen, Head of Product Development at adidas Footwear.
“The general idea was to present a completely different type of shoe,” he added. “Mixing off-court style with a performance shoe was definitely a true challenge for us. It took quite a while to get to a place where we could confidently say, ‘Hey, this is the perfect mix of performance and style.’”
To help on both levels, adidas asked Simona Halep, the WTA World No.5 to test the shoe in advance of its launch.
“On the women’s side, we’ve been working with Simona,” said Mr. Mülhleisen. “Right from the beginning she was very confident that this mixture of style and performance would make a great tennis shoe.”
The expert playtesters at Tennis Warehouse agree. "For me, the biggest thing about the Defiant Bounce is that they are shoes I can legitimately do life in,” said Michelle. “I find myself wearing them all day. I’m really enjoying them in the gym because they have decent cushioning and allow me to feel connected to the ground. But I also wouldn’t mind wearing these shoes downtown to meet a friend for drinks or dinner after work.”
The Defiant Bounce offers lightweight support and performance in a comfortable and stylish package. A one-piece bootie construction provides a snug, personalized fit while adidas' signature Bounce midsole technology provides all-day comfort and support under foot.
The full herringbone tread pattern is intended to grab the court well and is specifically designed to perform on any surface.
Exclusive to Tennis Warehouse in the United States, the adidas Defiant Bounce retails at $99.95. Tennis Warehouse also offers the shoe on a non-exclusive basis in Europe.
