Should she win her second Dubai title, Kvitova is set to climb back to a career-high World No.2 in the rankings, which she recently returned to for the first time since 2011 following a runner-up finish at the Australian Open.

After peaking at a career-high World No.7, the resurgent Bencic is projected to return to the Top 30 for the first time since September 2016, and could go as high as No.23 with the title.

The Czech is looking to become the fourth woman to win more than one title in Dubai, joining Justine Henin, Venus Williams and Elina Svitolina.

Kvitova and Bencic played last month in the first Grand Slam of the season, with the Czech surrendering just five games to win their third-round match. She has not lost a set in three career meetings against the Swiss No.1.

Prior to this year, the Swiss' only previous win at the tournament came over Karin Knapp in 2015, before she was defeated by champion Venus Williams in the second round.

Bencic is looking to equal the best result by a Swiss woman in Dubai: as Martina Hingis won the title at the inaugural event in 2001 by defeating Nathalie Tauziat in the final.

Bencic will look to defeat her fourth Top 10 player of the week (Aryna Sabalenka, Simona Halep, Elina Svitolina) to capture her second Premier 5 title - the same amount of Top 10 players she defeated to win the 2015 Rogers Cup (Caroline Wozniacki, Ana Ivanovic, Serena Williams, Halep).
