Angelique Kerber starts her French Open campaign today. The No.1 seed has won Roland Garros 18 times, while the earliest exit of the top seed here has occurred in the second round (Justine Henin in 2004, to Tathiana Garbin, and Serena Williams in 2014, to Garbiñe Muguruza)

Roland Garros 2017 marks Dominika Cibulkova's 38th Grand Slam main draw appearance. Her best result across the majors came with a runner-up finish at the 2014 Australian Open (losing to Li Na).

2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova has made the second week on all but three of her appearances at Roland Garros since 2003 - but her title here marks her last clay court tournament victory to date.

Wildcard Amanda Anisimova, who opens against Kurumi Nara today, is the youngest player in the women's draw at 15 years old. She's also the youngest player ranked in the Top 500.

Ukrainian qualifier Kateryna Kozlova will be looking for her first Slam main draw win in five attempts today against compatriot Lesia Tsurenko. In her losses to date, she has won one set - against Venus Williams at the US Open last year.
