Victory for Carina Witthoeft on Wednesday would see her equal her quarterfinal showing from last year's tournament - when she lost to eventual champion Viktorija Golubic.

Maria Sakkari has already beaten last year's showing at the same event, when she lost in the opening round to Anett Kontaveit.

Tamara Korpatsch hopes to make her third quarterfinal of the year today, having already made the last eight in Contrexeville and Andrezieux-boutheon.

Victory for Rebecca Sramkova would take her into her first quarterfinal of 2017, in her first appearance in Gstaad.

Rebecca Sramkova and Carina Witthoeft are level at one win apiece from their previous meetings, both winning on clay last year, in Biarritz and Prague respectively. None of today's three other singles match-ups have met before.
