The Frenchwoman is the only seed left in the tournament.

She won her only previous meeting against Sofia Kenin, 6-1, 6-3 in Cincinnati last year.

The last American to make the final of Hobart was Madison Brengle in 2015. Bethanie Mattek-Sands has also reached the final in the last decade.

Belinda Bencic is bidding to become the second Swiss player to win this event. Patty Schnyder claimed the crown in 1998.
