MATCH POINTS

This will be the first meeting between Barbora Strycova and qualifier Elena Rybakina. Both players are making their tournament debuts in Istanbul.

Marketa Vondrousova won her only prior match against Lara Arruabarrena, in the first round of Gstaad last year. Vondrousova would go on to reach the semifinals of that event before losing to Mandy Minella.

Petra Martic and Kristina Mladenovic have split their two previous encounters. Mladenovic won their first meeting after Martic retired in a second-round match in Quebec City in 2013. Martic leveled their head-to-head with a three-set win at the Miami Open last season.

No.6 seed Martic is only seeded player to reach the quarterfinals. The World No.40 is playing her first event since an excellent run to her biggest career semifinal at the Volvo Car Open in Charleston, where she beat Belinda Bencic in the quarterfinals.

Margarita Gasparyan and Veronika Kudermetova will face off in a battle of Russians. Gasparyan has won all three of their previous tilts in straight sets, most recently in the qualifying of St. Petersburg earlier this year, where Gasparyan won 6-1, 6-0.
