Korpatsch is into her first-ever semifinal at a WTA event. Her best prior result in 2019 was reaching the quarterfinals at Prague as a lucky loser, before losing to eventual champion Jil Teichmann.

Fiona Ferro and Bernarda Pera have met once before, in the first round of an ITF World Tennis Tour event in Solin, Croatia in 2012. Pera won that match, 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-0.

Both Ferro and Pera are seeking their first-ever WTA singles final. Ferro is into her second semifinal at WTA-level; her first also came on clay in Switzerland, at Lugano earlier this season.

Pera is into her second WTA semifinal of 2019; she reached the final four in Prague on clay before falling to Karolina Muchova.
