MIAMI, FL, USA - The second of 2017's four Premier Mandatory tournaments is less than two weeks away, and the Miami Open have just announced their wildcards for main draw and qualifying event.
Among the recipients for main draw wildcards is former World No.7 Belinda Bencic, doubles No.1 Bethanie Mattek-Sands, young American Nicole Gibbs, resurgent Croat Ajla Tomljanovic, rising Russian Natalia Vikhlyantseva, and former French Open junior champion Paula Badosa Gibert, along with Beatriz Haddad Maia and Ayla WTA Malaysian Open champion Ashleigh Barty.
In addition to the eight Miami Open women's singles main draw wild cards, the tournament also announced five women who have been awarded wild card entries into the Miami Open Qualifying Tournament. That list includes a slew of 2016 junior standouts, including Wimbledon winner Anastasia Potapova, US Open champion Kayla Day, and French Open finalist Anisimova.
Potapova and Anisimova recently faced off in the final of an ITF Challenger Circuit event in Curitiba, Brazil, which the Russian won in three sets for her first pro-level title.
