Victoria Azarenka, Sania Mirza and Sloane Stephens were among the WTA stars who took the opportunity to share their celebrations on social media.

A strong family network is important to life on the WTA Tour. A number of players took the opportunity of Mother's Day to pay tribute to the women who raised and supported them in the pursuit of their dreams.

Sania Mirza posted a picture of her mother looking regal with her note of appreciation.

One of the WTA Tour's liveliest personalities, Daria Gavrilova, posted on Instagram that she'd inherited her sense of humor from her mother - along with a childhood snap of herself, her mother and a marrow.

Happy Mother's Day! ❤ my mumma is the funniest mumma ever! I am who I am because of her ❤

For Samantha Crawford, it's her tennis skills that have been handed down a generation - and as evidence, she posted a clip of her mother's sharp doubles poaching.

Meanwhile, many of the legends of the WTA Tour are now mothers themselves - and Tracy Austin's sons treated her to a brunch feast.

And Victoria Azarenka got to experience her first Mother's Day as both daughter and mother.
