MADRID, Spain - Three of the top eight seeds at the Mutua Madrid Open have contested the championship match at the Caja Mágica, with No.3 seed and defending champion Simona Halep leading the trio which also includes Dominika Cibulkova and Svetlana Kuznetsova.

The top two seeds at the year's third Premier Mandatory event, Angelique Kerber and Karolina Pliskova, have never advanced past the quarterfinals in Madrid, but will be looking to change their fortunes as the WTA continues on the road to the French Open.
