A clearly disappointed Kiki Bertens said she had "no regrets" about her performance in the Mutua Madrid Open final.

In an emotional press conference, she told reporters: "Of course it really hurts right now, and I think you can see that, but I think maybe early tomorrow or next week or in a few weeks I can look back and know I'm on the right way."

The Dutchwoman also paid tribute to new champion Petra Kvitova, who triumphed 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-3, calling her "one of the biggest fighters out there".
