SINGAPORE - After winning her opening match at the Kremlin Cup on Wednesday, Flavia Pennetta has become the seventh qualifier for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.
Pennetta, who made world headlines in the summer by winning her first Grand Slam title at the US Open then announcing she would retire at the end of the year, joins Simona Halep, Maria Sharapova, Garbiñe Muguruza, Petra Kvitova, Agnieszka Radwanska and Angelique Kerber in the field.
The Italian veteran will be playing the final WTA event of her career at the Singapore Sports Hub.
"Qualifying for the WTA Finals is a dream come true and the perfect way to end to an amazing season for me. It will also be a wonderful way for me to say to say goodbye to tennis - it's a spectacular stage to bow out on. Having won the WTA Finals before in doubles, I can't wait to make my debut in singles."

Who Will Be Qualifier No.8 At The WTA Finals?
The No.8 spot on the Road To Singapore leaderboard belongs to Lucie Safarova, but with the Czech losing her opening match at the Kremlin Cup on Wednesday, there's one player who can overtake her.
If the Spaniard loses before the final, Safarova becomes the last player into the elite eight.
