SINGAPORE - Petra Kvitova has qualified for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, joining Simona Halep, Maria Sharapova and Garbiñe Muguruza in the elite eight line-up.
"I am so excited to qualify for the WTA Finals for the fifth straight year," Kvitova said. "I've been through some tough moments this season so I'm extra proud of myself for qualifying again and making it back to Singapore. Playing as one of the Top 8 is a big goal for me each year so I can't wait to be back there, fighting hard and hopefully playing some great tennis in front of the Singaporean fans."
This is Kvitova's fifth straight year qualifying for the WTA's crown jewel event. Her best result was winning the title on debut in Istanbul in 2011 - she was also a semifinalist in 2013 (falling to Li Na).
Nine players are battling it out for the last four spots in the elite eight field in Singapore - those nine players are Agnieszka Radwanska, Angelique Kerber, Lucie Safarova, Flavia Pennetta, Timea Bacsinszky, Carla Suárez Navarro, Venus Williams, Karolina Pliskova and Belinda Bencic.
