With the first Premier-level event of the Asian swing beginning in Tokyo this week, several WTA stars have the chance to better their positions in the hopes of qualifying for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

With Garbiñe Muguruza already qualified, four other Singapore contenders are taking to the courts at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo this week.

Karolina Pliskova, Simona Halep, Johanna Konta and Caroline Wozniacki can all improve their standing in the Porsche Race to Singapore with strong performances this week.

Wozniacki is the defending champion in Tokyo, having defeating Naomi Osaka to win the crown last season.

Also looking to punch her ticket to the WTA Finals is French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, who is the top seed at the KEB Hana Bank-Incheon Airport Korea Open in Seoul this week.

The Latvian currently sits at No.8 in the singles Race, over 600 points clear of No.9 Kristina Mladenovic, who lost her first round match in Tokyo earlier on Monday.

Here's how the Porsche Race to Singapore Leaderboard in singles stands as of September 18.

In doubles, three teams in the Top 15 of the Race will look to improve on their positions in the chase for the Top 8.

Andreja Klepac and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, and hometown favorites Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato will look to raise their standings with deep runs in Tokyo, while Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson are the top seeds in Seoul.
