Two more Czech players could join them, as Marie Bouzkova and Denisa Allertova have reached the final round of qualifying.

2017 runner-up Kristyna Pliskova is one of four players in the main draw who have previously reached the Prague final. 2015 champion Karolina Pliskova, 2017 titlist Mona Barthel, and 2018 runner-up Mihaela Buzarnescu are also in the field.

Andrea Petkovic takes a 1-0 head-to-head lead into her opening match with Jessica Pegula. The former World No.9 defeated Pegula in the first round of the CitiOpen in Washington, D.C. in 2013. Petkovic seeks her first win at Prague after falling in the first round to Siniakova last year, in her only prior appearance.

In an all-Slovakian encounter, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova takes faces No.7 seed Viktoria Kuzmova. The compatriots have split their two meetings, which both took place on clay. Kuzmova won the more recent match, in the semifinals of the Budapest challenger event last year.

2019 Australian Open semifinalist Danielle Collins meets Jennifer Brady in an all-American affair. Collins won their only prior tilt, at a Challenger event in Macon, U.S.A. in 2016.
