BIRMINGHAM, England - New World No.12 Kristina Mladenovic is relishing her recent remarkable run of results - and says she knows opponents now view her as a completely different prospect.
"When you start having results and going up in the rankings, players become more relaxed to play against you because they don't think they have anything to lose against you, because you are in great form and you are the one who should win," she said before her first match at the Aegon Classic.
"It's a great position to be at. You work for that - to be the better player, to be the better-ranking player possible. Overall, it's a great feeling to be playing well, to see the fans everywhere all around the tour follow me and support me."
The Roland Garros quarterfinalist admits her favourite surface is clay - but she is hoping that her game will translate on to grass in the next few tournaments.
"I've been playing well on clay - my game is a little bit different on clay than what I can give on grass," she said. "The most important are the first few shots, the serve-return, and try to be aggressive."
