5 KEY FACTS FOR MONDAY'S MATCHES

Yaroslava Shvedova is 0-2 against Top 20 opponents in 2017 - Venus Williams is currently ranked No.12.

Venus is making her 13th appearance at Rome. She was champion in 1999, beating Mary Pierce in the final, after finishing as runner-up to Martina Hingis the year before.

Alizé Cornet is looking for her first win of the red clay season following first-round exits at Rabat, where she lost to Alison Riske, and in Madrid, where she lost to Eugenie Bouchard.

This is the first time Barbora Strycova and Daria Kasatkina have faced each other.

It is the fifth time Mirjana Lucic-Baroni and Lucie Safarova have met, though - and the Croatian has yet to take a set from the Czech.
