MATCH POINTS

Pricilla Hon has faced Karolina Muchova previously in Seoul. She won a 2017 first-round meeting, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

If the Australian were to win this match, it would be her best career win in terms of ranking. A victory over WTA World No.60 Aleksandra Krunic in Sydney earlier this year is presently her best.

None of the other quarterfinalists have previously played each other before.

Wang Yafan has faced Spanish players only four times previously and has a 1-3 losing record against them.

Paula Badosa has never beaten a Top 60 player outside of Spain. Her only wins against players in that bracket have come against Americans Lauren Davis on the clay of Madrid and Alison Riske on Mallorca’s grass.

Although Karolina Muchova has twice lost against players outside of the Top 100 this year, both of these defeats came on clay, against Jil Teichmann in Prague and Irina-Camelia Begu at Roland Garros.

Kirsten Flipkens and Magda Linette are the only two players of the eight quarterfinalists to have qualified without dropping a set.

Ekaterina Alexandrova might have been pushed to three sets by Kristyna Pliskova in round two, but the match lasted only 93 minutes, with the decider accounting for almost half of that as it stretched 40 minutes.
