TORONTO, Canada - Defending champion Simona Halep dropped just one game against the tricky Barbora Strycova to charge into the Rogers Cup quarterfinals.

No.2 seed Halep needed just 58 minutes to secure the 6-1, 6-0 victory, looking completely in control of the match from start to finish.

With the win Halep extends her record against the Czech to four victories in a row, winning all eight sets she’s played against Strycova.

Halep will take on Caroline Garcia in the next round after the Frenchwoman moved past big hitting CiCi Bellis 6-4, 6-2.
