September 2017 WTA Player Of The Month Finalists

Caroline Wozniacki: The former WTA World No.1 has won at least one title every year since 2008, and kept that streak alive when she defended her Toray Pan Pacific Open crown in Tokyo.

Battling through the draw, the Dane twice recovered from a set down to outlast Shelby Rogers and Dominika Cibulkova, only to surge to the trophy after emphatic wins over current World No.1 Garbiñe Muguruza and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Wozniacki not only won her 26th career title, but the win also helped cement a fifth appearance at the upcoming BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

Simona Halep: The new WTA World No.1 had a week to remember at the China Open, rolling into her second Premier Mandatory final of the year. Reversing an 0-7 head-to-head against Maria Sharapova, Halep stunned the Russian and backed up the win with another grudge match win over Daria Kasatkina in the quarterfinals.

A win away from the No.1 ranking, Halep steadied past French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in a full circle encounter that helped her become the 25th woman to take the top spot on the WTA rankings.

Though she fell in the final to a surging Caroline Garic, the Romanian nonetheless took the lead on the Porsche Race to Singapore leaderboard, putting her in pole position to finish the season atop both WTA and PRTS standings.

Caroline Garcia: Seemingly against all odds, Caroline Garcia rode an 11-match winning streak to sweep the Great Haul of China, taking home titles at the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open and China Open.

Garcia struggled with injury earlier in the season, but came alive at her home Grand Slam tournament, where she reached the Roland Garros quarterfinals. Since then, she's become one to beat, particularly in Asia, where she took just one loss - to then-WTA World No.1 Muguruza.

In Wuhan, she kicked off her week with a win over former No.1 Angelique Kerber and played solid tennis to dispatch reigning WTA Finals champion Dominika Cibulkova en route to a dramatic three-set win over Ashleigh barty in the final.

Unwilling to give up her chance of qualifying for Singapore, Garcia saved a match point to defeat Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals of Beijing, and didn't drop a set to either two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova or Halep to take the two biggest titles of her career.

The whirlwind fortnight hlped her break into the Top 10 on the WTA rankings and move into the No.8 position on the Porsche Race to Singapore leaderboard.
