The iconic retelling of Billie Jean King's victory in the 'Battle of the Sexes' hits big screens this fall, and the film's first trailer was released to audiences this week.
The film, dubbed by the same name as the 1973 match that saw King defeat former World No.1 Bobby Riggs in a landmark victory for women's sport, stars Academy Award-winner Emma Stone as WTA founder and equality pioneer King, and Steve Carrell as Riggs.
King has already shared her enthusiam and support for the film, and has gotten to know the 28-year-old actress since her casting was announced in 2015.
"When I began preparing for the role, Billie invited me to play some tennis," Stone told People magazine last year. "Let me be clear about something, I was a complete novice -- at that point I'd had three lessons --and she, on the other hand, is one of the greatest players of all time. So, a fair match it was not."
"I kept hitting clunkers, of course - but Billie would just say, 'Forget the bad one. Focus on the next ball.'"
From the directors of Little Miss Sunshine, 'Battle of the Sexes' is set to hit theaters on Sept. 22.
