With just three weeks to go until the WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai, the leaderboard for the season-ending event is taking shape, with many of the 12 spots staying in place after a whirlwind week at the China Open in Beijing.

The biggest change comes at the very top; Caroline Garcia moved up into Singapore contention after claiming the biggest title of her career, putting Johanna Konta on the top spot in the Zhuhai leaderboard. Konta trails Garcia by 185 points, and both players are still battling for the last Singapore spot, so there might be one last change left on the Zhuhai leaderboard in the coming weeks.

Big names fill out the rest of the list, with former No.1 Angelique Kerber, US Open champion Sloane Stephens, US Open finalist Madison Keys, 2016 WTA Finals champion Dominika Cibulkova, and rising stars like Kristina Mladenovic and Ashleigh Barty all in contention for a place in Zhuhai’s 12-player field.

Here's how the Shine in Zhuhai leaderboard stands as of October 9:

Twelve of the best players on the WTA will have the chance to compete for an increased purse of $2.28 million over the week of Oct. 31 - Nov. 5 at the WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai.

The 12 qualifying singles players and one wildcard will join six doubles teams to compete in a round robin format, with the top four singles players advancing to the semifinals.
