2018 - BIRMINGHAM - GREAT BRITAIN June 17, 2018

From Jankovic to Kvitova: A decade of champions in Birmingham

The Edgbaston tournament in Birmingham is one of the longest-standing on the WTA calendar, having been played since 1982. Take a look back at all the winners since 2007 here.

01 /11
Future World No.1 Jelena Jankovic won her fifth career title here in 2007, defeating Maria Sharapova 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the final; three weeks later, the Serb would become Wimbledon mixed doubles champion alongside Jamie Murray (Getty)
02 /11
Kateryna Bondarenko won her maiden title in 2009, beating Yanina Wickmayer 7-6(7), 3-6, 7-6(4) in the first Birmingham final to be decided be a final set tiebreak; Bondarenko would have to wait nine years for her second trophy, in Tashkent 2017 (Getty)
03 /11
Another first-time titlist followed in 2010: future Wimbledon semifinalist Magdalena Rybarikova, whose route to the trophy included No.1 seed Zheng Jie in the third round and Li Na 6-0, 7-6(2) in the final (Getty)
04 /11
Li Na got her hands on the trophy at last in 2010 when she beat Maria Sharapova 7-5, 6-1 in the final; it was the only one of the Chinese two-time Slam champion's titles to come on grass (Getty)
05 /11
An unseeded Sabine Lisicki carved her way through the draw without dropping a set in 2011, culminating in a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Daniela Hantuchova; a fortnight later, the German would reach her first Wimbledon semifinal (Getty)
06 /11
No.208-ranked Melanie Oudin is the only qualifier to take the title here; the American was the last player standing after a rain-delayed 2012 event, beating Jelena Jankovic 6-4, 6-2 in a Monday final - her third match in two days (Getty)
07 /11
The sixth and penultimate title of Daniela Hantuchova's career came here in 2013; in an all-unseeded final, the Slovak beat a 16-year-old Donna Vekic 7-6(5), 6-4 (Getty)
08 /11
An upgrade to Premier status in 2014 saw Ana Ivanovic defeat Barbora Strycova 6-3, 6-2 for her first title at that level in six years - and it would be the Serb's penultimate trophy out of the 15 she won in her career (Getty)
09 /11
Having suffered two Eastbourne final defeats in 2012 and 2015, Angelique Kerber finally won her first grass title in Birmingham in 2015, defeating Karolina Pliskova 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(4) in the final (Getty)
10 /11
Madison Keys became the first maiden titlist of Birmingham's Premier era in 2016 when the 21-year-old beat Barbora Strycova, who suffered her second final loss in three years, 6-3, 6-4 (Getty)
11 /11
There was an emotional win in 2017 for Petra Kvitova, whose 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Ashleigh Barty sealed her first title following a horrific knife attack in 2016 - in just her second tournament back (Getty)
