July 2017 WTA Breakthrough of the Month Finalists:
Bianca Andreescu: The 17-year-old Canadian made a big splash at the Citi Open, reaching her first WTA quarterfinal with defeats of Camila Giorgi and No.2 seed Kristina Mladenovic. After she received a wildcard into the International-level event, the win against Mladenovic was Andreescu's first match against a Top 20 player.
CiCi Bellis: Another teenager who made waves in July was Bellis, who reached her first Premier-level semifinal at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford. As the No.8 seed, Bellis scored her biggest win en route to the final four over Petra Kvitova in the quarterfinals, as the American broke in every Kvitova service game in a 6-2, 6-0 victory. In addition, Bellis also scored wins against Alizé Cornet and Veronica Cepede Royg at her hometown event.
Katerina Siniakova: The Czech won her second title of the season at the Ericsson Open in Bastad in style in early July, with three Top 20 wins in the final three rounds. In the quarterfinals, Siniakova defeated No.2 seed Anastasija Sevastova, before taking out No.3 seed Caroline Garcia in the final four and top seed Caroline Wozniacki in the final. The win in Bastad was Siniakova's second title of 2017 as well, having triumphed in the season-opener in Shenzhen.
