16-year-old Wang Xinyu stunned former World No.30 Misaki Doi as she beat her 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinal of the Australian Open Asia-Pacific Wildcard Playoff.

The Japanese player was the event's top seed - but the teenager came from a set down to secure her place in the final.

Wang will take on Papua New Guinea's Abigail Tere-Apisah for the prize of a wildcard into the main draw of the year's first Grand Slam event.

Tere-Apisah beat the second seed Lu Jing-Jing in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, in the other semifinal.
