She did what no other player had done before her, and as a result, Caroline Garcia is the WTA Player of the Month for October.

The Frenchwoman became the first player to pull off the Chinese double at the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open and China Open, winning a stunning 11 straight matches to claim the first Premier 5 and Premier Mandatory titles of her career last month.

She also became the first player since Victoria Azarenka in 2016 (Indian Wells, Miami) to win back-to-back Premier titles.

Garcia earned three Top 10 victories over her fortnight and came from a set down three times. Those matches included the final in Wuhan, where she came from a set and a break down to defeat Ashleigh Barty, and in the quarterfinals in Beijing, where she saved a match point against Elina Svitolina.

After her magical fortnight in China, Garcia entered the world's Top 10 for the first time, and moved into the eighth position in the Porsche Race to Singapore, putting herself ahead of Johanna Konta of Great Britain for the final singles spot at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global.

Earlier this week, Garcia qualified for her first WTA Finals in singles after Konta withdrew from the upcoming Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
