NEW YORK, NY, USA - There was talk of a potential shuffle in the seedings for this year's US Open, given a certain 13-time Grand Slam champion and former No.1's early form as she returns to the WTA this summer. But in the end and as in the past, the USTA has stuck with the rankings in Flushing Meadows.
"After careful deliberation regarding Serena Williams' seeding, we decided to maintain the objective criteria in place to determine the women's singles seeds at this year's US Open," commented Jim Curley, the US Open's Tournament Director and Chief Professional Tournaments Officer for the USTA.
