SINGAPORE - Garbiñe Muguruza, Spain's No.1 player and one of the leading WTA Rising Stars on the tour, has officially qualified for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global after reaching the quarterfinals of the Premier Mandatory-level China Open in Beijing on Thursday.

Muguruza will be the first Spaniard to compete at the WTA Finals since it switched to an eight-woman format in 2003. The last Spaniard to compete at the WTA Finals was Arantxa Sánchez-Vicario in 2001.
