MATCH FACTS

Kristina Mladenovic has won two of the three previous meetings with Barbora Strycova, triumphing in both Miami and Birmingham in 2015 before losing out in Doha last year.

Carla Suárez Navarro meets Petra Kvitova for the 11th time, with both players having won five times apiece. The Spaniard has won the last four meetings, however, taking the honours in Dubai in successive years in 2014 and 2015 and also winning at Doha and Rome in 2015.

Daria Kasatkina and Roberta Vinci meet for the third time on hardcourts, with each having one win apiece to their name. Vinci also prevailed on clay in Madrid earlier this year.

Lesia Tsurenko's only previous victory over Dominika Cibulkova came on the hardcourt, at the US Open last summer. Cibulkova has won against the Ukranian twice on clay, in Madrid and at Roland Garros, both in 2013.

Anastasija Sevastova meets Lauren Davis for the third time, with all their matches having taken place on the hardcourt. Sevastova won in Auckland four years ago before Davis levelled the head to head, winning at Indian Wells this year.
