Julia Goerges and Anastasija Sevastova have played each other five times previously, with the balance tipped slightly in favour of the German, who has won three of these meetings.

The Latvian won the pair's last meeting, coming through in three sets in the final of the Mallorca Open earlier this year to give her a first - and so far only - title of the season.

CoCo Vandeweghe and Ashleigh Barty have never previously met competitively.

Despite being the highest seeded ranked player remaining in the draw, Vandeweghe, the WTA World No. 12 and No.2 seed, is the only one of the four semifinalists to have dropped a set so far this week.

Conversely, Barty, who is the lowest ranked player at WTA World No. 20, has lost the fewest games (12) of the final four.

All of the semifinalists have won at least one tournament this year but Vandeweghe is the only remaining player to have won two.
