2006 - First Top 10 season; won sixth Tour singles title at Strasbourg (d. Peng in final); SF six times, most notably first Grand Slam SF at Roland Garros (l. to Kuznetsova 57 76(5) 62, having led 75 53; was sixth-youngest player in Open Era to reach Roland Garros SF) but also Sydney (l. to Schiavone), Stanford, San Diego (l. to Clijsters at both), Moscow and Linz (l. to Petrova at both); QF at Tokyo [Pan Pacific]; strong showings at other majors, reaching 4r at Australian Open (l. to Mauresmo) and Wimbledon (l. to Li) and 3r at US Open (l. to Jankovic); beat Mauresmo twice during season at Roland Garros and Moscow, for third and fourth Top 10 wins (first wins over a reigning No.1); made Top 10 debut on August 7 (after San Diego; rose from No.12 to No.9 (at 17y/3m/2w, was 12th-youngest to crack Top 10 after Capriati, Jaeger, Austin, Sabatini, Seles, Hingis, Graf, Kournikova, Zvereva, Sharapova, Bassett-Seguso); surpassed $1 million in career prize money earnings (fifth-youngest).

2007 - Near-Top 10 finish after season marred somewhat by illness and injury; SF four times, at Sydney (l. to Jankovic), Australian Open (l. to S.Williams; second Grand Slam SF), Zürich (l. to Henin) and Linz (l. to Hantuchova); QF six times, at Indian Wells, Miami, Roland Garros (l. to Jankovic), Eastbourne (l. to Henin), Wimbledon (l. to Ivanovic 46 62 75; led 5-3 third set w/3mp at 5-4) and Moscow (l. to S.Williams); had three Top 10 wins, at Australian Open (No.8 Dementieva), Wimbledon (No.4 Mauresmo) and Zürich (No.3 Jankovic); reached career-high No.7 on May 28 (going into Roland Garros); only four pre-QF losses, incl.
